Mississippi River Mayors to Sign First-Ever MOCP with Army Corps of Engineers
~More than 20 Mississippi River Mayors are holding a press briefing to announce important developments in their work to make the Mississippi River more sustainable–including a first-ever Memorandum of Common Purpose with the US Army Corps of Engineers. The briefing will be followed by the Mayors’ Jobs Forum, where leaders in navigation, agriculture, water infrastructure, and recreation/tourism industries will discuss job opportunities. The Mayors–members of the Mississippi River Cities & Towns Initiative (MRCTI), a mayoral-led effort comprised of 55 River Mayors committed to creating a coordinated voice for the Mississippi River–are having their second annual organizational meeting in St. Cloud, MN from June 26-28 to continue their efforts to improve the shared waterway.
