This webmap depicts various geographic layers related to Hurricane Katrina and fatalities associated with the disaster's impacts in Louisiana. It shows storm surge contours, the maximum windspeed contours, and rainfall contours. The last two are not enabled by defaults but can be turned-on using the layer selector on the left. For the greater New Orleans region, the webmap includes levees, levee failures, and flooding due to the levee failures.

This webmap is an extension of Dr. Ezra Boyd's dissertation . The data was obtained from various sources, including the Louisiana State Medical Examiner's Office, the National Weather Service, the Federal Emergency Agency, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and researchers from Louisiana State University. William Wilkerson contributed to this map and Victor Olaya of Boundless Geo provided valuable technical assistance.
